Balance, nature & contact with the inner voice
In this article I would like to show you an unbeatable way to find more balance and at the same time to get access to your inner voice.
These days you read a lot about homeostasis and coherence, and what sounds terribly scientific and complicated simply means balance. A biological system that exists in equilibrium is also healthy. At least at that moment, the full self-healing potential is being realized. But what is the key to maintain or regain this balance?
The best advisor who is always available is our inner voice. By this I do not mean the mind. If you like, consider the mind as a hard disk. Everything you have heard, seen, read and felt in your life so far is stored there. On so far still not However, the mind cannot fall back on what it has experienced. The inner voice, on the other hand, is rather to be understood as the mouthpiece of the soul. And who could be a better advisor than my own soul, which can draw on a completely different pool of knowledge, which knows my life plan?
This voice can only be heard by those who allow themselves to step out of the constant fire of sensory impressions for a certain time.
There is a huge range of detox programs. Almost all of them are tailored to the body. But what good is it to cleanse the body for a short time if thoughts that are harmful to me continue to circulate incessantly, if habits that are not beneficial continue to be maintained?
So how do you do mental purification, inner detoxing, how do you turn off the white noise of everyday life so that your inner voice can resound and be heard? From my personal experience there is a very simple and even free way to achieve this.
And that's through contact with nature. By that I don't mean a walk in the city park with headphones on and maybe writing short messages.
By contact with nature, I mean really immersing yourself in nature with all your senses for once.
I think that just a few decades ago, you didn't have to explain to anyone how this works. At that time, man was still embedded in real nature for a good part of his life. There were everywhere still natural areas uninfluenced by human hand in which one could still perceive, feel, absorb the life as it is planned by the earth.
Today, things have already changed somewhat. About half of all humanity lives in big cities and in a few decades it will be two thirds. At the same time, those areas that are untouched by human hand are dwindling.
Nature contact makes the inner voice audible
So what do I mean when I say immerse yourself in nature with all your senses? For me, it works like this:
I need to be alone.
I need a piece of untouched nature where I am undisturbed, where I can sit down or lie down or even walk through and I need at least three hours of time. I find myself in the place and linger there without doing anything. Sometimes I walk at a slow pace along forest trails or, in my adopted country of Thailand, along narrow trails through the jungle or across a long, pristine beach. But mostly I sit on the ground and lean against a tree.
Usually I then observe a detail such as a river, a flower, an ant, a tree, the sea or even the clouds in the sky. With observe I mean a deep contemplation.
This goes far beyond the perception of textures, colors and movements. I also grasp the - if you will - ethereal essence of what I am looking at, understand my surroundings as an element of life, a life of which I myself am a part. When I do this, everyday thoughts disappear.
If the mind stops wanting to constantly roll over some problem. My breathing becomes deep. It settles harmoniously with a calm and powerful heartbeat. A feeling of being held and carried by the life that I perceive around me, that supports me from within, spreads.
If you were to measure my bodily functions in a laboratory now, such as breathing, heartbeat, skin resistance, brain waves, etc., you would find that coherence has been established, that the bodily functions are in homeostasis. If you were to ask me at this moment how I feel, I would say two words, "in harmony." And when I remain in this state, the answers to the most pressing problems of my life at the moment come as if by themselves.
And all the answers I got during these nature sessions were always right. They were about things like: is this kind of job still good for me? Should I stay in this relationship? Is it worth building this business? Should I move? Or also: what does my body need? What is weakening me? Which habit should I install? Which one to give up? What kind of exercise is good for me? Which activities, places or people cause disharmony?
These answers come all by themselves, without me asking. And from my point of view, there is no one at this moment who can give me more valuable and actually more useful information for me. No book, no authority, no psychiatrist, no counselor, no doctor can give me more pertinent advice than this, my inner voice in this moment of balance and perfect equilibrium.
However, in order to arrive at these, not infrequently life-changing, insights, it is not only necessary to perceive them, but also, of course, to put them into practice. But that is another story, to which here is dealt with in detail.
Also feel free to let me know in which way. You with Your inner voice.
